Other signature aspects of this picturesque region include the Oxbow Public Market and its wide variety of regional gourmet food, plus the vintage locomotive and traveling restaurant, the Napa Valley Wine Train. The area is home to several beautiful small towns, each with its own personality and attractions like Oakville, Rutherford, Calistoga, Yountville, and St. Helena.

The upscale Charter Oak Restaurant is a seasonal, family-style establishment in the heart of Napa Valley. Chef Christopher Kostow's previous claim to fame was his work at the Michelin three-starred Restaurant at Meadowood. Napa is also home to the sophisticated PRESS Restuarant in St. Helena, serving seafood, steaks, and Napa wines in a refined setting with a patio. Travel to Yountville, and you can sample the renowned Michelin-starred French bistro Bouchon or the three-star Michelin star French and Californian cuisine restaurant The French Laundry.

Rutherford Grill in Rutherford offers American comfort food paired with a robust wine list in a lively setting. Like Sonoma, Napa is a world-class culinary destination replete with lush vineyards and prestigious wineries, such as Domaine Carneros, Hall Winery, Chateau Montelena, and Opus One.
 

Things to Do

 
The scenic and fertile region of Napa has dozens of parks to enjoy. Bicycle or hike across the 157-acre Alston Park, encompassing meadows, groves, and a creek, or spend an afternoon in Timberhill Park, a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Other notable outdoor areas and trails in Napa County include American Canyon Wetlands Trail, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, Lake Hennessey Recreation Area, Lynch Canyon Open Space, and Napa River and Bay Trail.

Experience the best in wine, food, and music at Yountville Live, an incredible festival held annually in Napa Valley that transforms the single-day Taste of Yountville food festival into a weekend-long VIP experience with special events held throughout the valley in restaurants, wineries, and more.

For more live entertainment, BottleRock Napa Valley is an epic three-day music, wine, food, and brew festival held each May in California. Napa also hosts its own film festival, completely immersed in the art of film and wine. Events and spectacular festivals unique to the Napa Valley are always happening in this enriching and vibrant area, such as Arts in April, Napa Truffle Festival, Napa Valley Jazz Getaway, and Auction Napa Valley.

There are many public and private schools operating throughout Napa County. Two colleges also operate in Napa: Pacific Union College and Napa Valley College.
